PLD Live-Front/Dead-Front Pad-Mounted Switchgear
The Federal Pacific PLD pad-mounted switchgear combines the application flexibility of live-front switching with the personnel safety of dead-front fuse protection in a single enclosure. The PLD is designed for underground distribution systems where the most desirable features of both live-front and dead-front switchgear are required in one assembly, and is particularly well suited for retrofit installations where existing live-front infrastructure is already in place.
Available at 15kV with 600A or 1200A switches and bus, the PLD is offered in four standard configurations — PLD-5, PLD-6, PLD-9, and PLD-11 — to cover the most common circuit requirements. Manual, automatic source transfer, and SCADA-controlled operation are all available.
Technical Overview
The PLD enclosure combines the construction features of the PSI/II live-front and PSE dead-front designs into a single integrated assembly.
