Federal Pacific PMDF primary metering pad-mounted switchgear provides a weather-protected, tamper-resistant enclosure for utility-grade revenue metering at primary voltages on underground cable systems. Designed to accommodate current transformers and voltage transformers, the PMDF supports accurate energy measurement at the point of service for utility, industrial, and commercial applications.
Available at 15kV, 25kV, and 35kV, these units are engineered for seamless integration into underground distribution systems where secure, ground-level metering is required.
Technical Overview
The PMDF enclosure is purpose-built for primary metering applications, combining rugged all-welded steel construction with flexible instrument transformer configurations.
- Dead-front termination compartment with six bushing wells for radial systems or nine bushing wells for loop systems, accommodating 200A load-break inserts and elbows.
- Optional 600A bushings available for higher current applications.
- Isolated instrument transformer compartment with provisions for customer-installed or factory-installed CTs and VTs.
- Insulated hinged inner barrier with pentahead-bolt closures for secure compartment access.
- All-welded 11-gauge hot-rolled steel construction with corrosion-resistant epoxy powder primer and baked powder topcoat.
- Pad-lockable doors with rugged three-point latching on all compartments.
- Optional externally mounted kWh meters and low-voltage compartments available.
