PSI/II Live-Front Pad-Mounted Switchgear
The Federal Pacific PSI/II is a live-front pad-mounted switchgear designed for underground medium-voltage distribution systems requiring the switching ratings and performance normally found only in metal-enclosed switchgear. Available in 15 pre-engineered switching configurations, the PSI/II covers radial feed, loop feed, and manual primary-selector switching applications with three-time fault-close ratings and proven Auto-Jet switching technology.
Available in 15kV and 25kV (UL Listed) as the PSI/II design, with 35kV available as the larger PSI design (not UL Listed), the product line is well suited for near-substation high fault-current applications, mid-point loop switching, and distant end-point standard fault-current installations.
Technical Overview
The PSI/II enclosure features the same heavy-gauge construction as the PSE with the addition of GPO-3 fiberglass barriers for live-front personnel protection.
- Low-profile 11-gauge pickled and oiled steel, all-welded construction with cross-kinked roof to eliminate standing water.
- Removable NEMA Class GPO-3 non-hygroscopic fiberglass reinforced polyester barriers for live-front phase isolation and personnel protection.
- 100% X-rayed cycloaliphatic epoxy insulators for superior dielectric reliability.
- Stainless steel hinges and hinge pins with padlockable self-resetting three-point auto-latch door security system.
- Stainless steel door-handle covers and switch operating pockets.
- Electrostatically deposited baked powder epoxy primer and polyester topcoat finish meeting ANSI C57.12.28 requirements.
- Meets IEEE C37.74 requirements including three-time fault-closing on switches and fuse mountings. UL Listed at 15kV and 25kV.
