PSV Automatic Pad-Mounted Switchgear
The Federal Pacific PSV is a dead-front, air-insulated, vacuum interrupter pad-mounted switchgear designed for automated underground medium-voltage distribution systems. The dead-front design provides enhanced security of protection and switch components from environmental concerns and improved isolation of medium-voltage circuits to limit exposure of operating personnel.
Available in 15kV and 25kV class (UL Listed) and 35kV class, the PSV is SCADA-ready and configurable with a wide variety of power handling and protection components to meet the specific switching, protection, and automation requirements of each
application.
Technical Overview
The PSV enclosure and electrical system are engineered for reliable long-term performance in outdoor underground distribution environments.
- Low-profile 11-gauge pickled and oiled steel, all-welded construction with cross-kinked roof to eliminate standing water.
- Stainless steel hinges and hinge pins with padlockable self-resetting three-point auto-latch door security system.
- Cycloaliphatic epoxy insulators for superior resistance to tracking and environmental degradation.
- Electrostatically deposited baked powder epoxy primer and polyester topcoat finish meeting ANSI C57.12.28 requirements.
- 600A bushings or 200A bushing wells with studs to accommodate elbows for load ways.
- Parking stands for IEEE 386 elbow assemblies adjacent to each bushing or bushing well.
- Rail-mounted relay class current transformers for easy removal and adjustment.
- Isolated and heated 11-gauge low voltage control compartment on applicable models.
- Meets IEEE C37.74 requirements including three-time fault-closing on switches and fuse mountings.
- UL Listed at 15kV and 25kV.
Automation and Protection
The PSV supports a range of automation and protection configurations through integration with SEL protective relaying and RTAC devices.
- Vacuum Circuit Breaker (VCB) position monitored by SEL-851 relay with local, remote contact closure, or remote SEL-851 relay switching capability.
- Protection Assurance feature: in the event of power loss, all VCBs can be configured to open and will not reclose until protection is restored. Protective relays are voltage transformer powered.
- Vacuum switch ways and Auto-Jet plus vacuum switch ways monitored continuously by the SEL-3505-3 RTAC device when an SEL-851 relay is not present.
- Vacuum switches switchable locally, remotely with contact closure, or remotely through the SEL-3505-3 RTAC.
- Proven Auto-Jet load-break air switching meeting IEEE C37.74 requirements.
