Lineator™ SUHF
The Mirus Lineator™ Single-Phase Universal Harmonic Filter (SUHF) is a passive broad-spectrum filter designed for three-phase variable frequency drives (VFDs) operating on a single-phase power supply. This specialized system accepts a single-phase input and delivers a balanced supply to the drive, mitigating severe line-side harmonics and negating the need for a double-size VFD, resulting in less derating and lower equipment costs.
Technical Overview
The Lineator™ SUHF utilizes a purely passive inductor-capacitor network to rectify the extreme phase imbalances and high thermal stresses of single-phase power conversion loops.
- Reduces total input current harmonic distortion across the entire operating range by up to ten times, keeping input current distortion below 12%.
- Dampens severe internal DC bus ripple currents within the VFD to protect capacitors from premature thermal failure.
- Decreases standard drive derating guidelines from traditional 2X margins, reducing costs for the overall drive package.
- Incorporates an automated capacitor bank switching contactor that disconnects internal capacitors when the drive is idle to prevent light-load overvoltages.
- Prevents resonance with pre-existing distribution system components and maintains high electrical impedance to line-side harmonics.
